  • Check your gas bottle isn’t empty and that it is not too old to use
  • Check that your appliances are functioning as normal
  • When using your appliances a level ground is always best
  • Your caravan must have a test point installed

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a gas certificate for my Caravan?

If your caravan, camper or poptop has a permanent plumbed gas system or supply, then yes, you will be required to obtain a Gas Certificate.

If my caravan requires repairs to the gas/plumbing system, can you do this?

Yes, we may offer to perform minor repairs at your request. Any repairs will be quoted prior to the repairs being undertaken.

Please note that not all repairs can be made on-the-spot if parts need to be ordered.

Does my caravan, camper or poptop require Safety Certificate as well as a Gas Certificate?

Yes.

If you are transferring registration or selling, and your caravan is fitted with a permanent plumbed gas system (and is over 750kgs), you will require both a Safety Certificate & Gas Certificate.

What about imported Caravans? Do I still need a Gas Certificate?

Specifications in Australia can differ to other countries of origin and therefore your caravan will still require a gas certificate to ensure the gas system meets Australian safety standards.

Trucks and semi-trailer over 4,500gvm (4.5t) are required to obtain a Heavy Vehicle Certificate of Inspection (COI), by an accredited Examiner.

Trailers, caravans and horse floats over 750kg require a safety certificate if you’re selling.

Owners of trailers under that weight can undertake a self assessment at their nearest Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Vehicles, caravans or trailers that have permanent gas plumbing require a Gas Safety Certificate.
